At Lizarra Ikastola, education is understood as a holistic and continuous process that accompanies individuals throughout all stages of their development. Our educational model places students at the centre as unique individuals and aims to foster balanced growth in personal, academic, social and emotional areas.
Holistic education goes beyond the acquisition of knowledge. It helps individuals learn to understand themselves, think critically, act responsibly and live together with others. For this reason, our pedagogical project integrates skills, values, attitudes and habits that enable each student to build their own life project.
Learning to be
We support students in developing self-awareness, self-esteem and emotional balance, helping them build a strong personal identity. From the earliest stages, autonomy, confidence and decision-making skills are encouraged so that students grow with inner stability.
Close guidance from teachers, tutoring and safe learning environments allow students to express themselves, experiment and learn from mistakes.
Learning to know
Academic learning is built progressively and meaningfully. Throughout all stages, students acquire solid knowledge across different subject areas while developing critical thinking, intellectual curiosity and the ability to understand the world around them.
Project-based learning, experimentation, reflection and reasoning help connect content to real-life situations, fostering deep and lasting understanding.
Learning to do
At Lizarra Ikastola, learning involves action. Play, hands-on activities, experience and practice enable students to apply knowledge and develop practical skills and learning strategies.
Over time, habits of organisation, effort, perseverance and responsibility are developed, supporting students’ autonomy in both academic challenges and everyday life.
Learning to live together
The social dimension is an essential part of holistic education. Students learn to cooperate, communicate, manage differences and relate to others with respect and empathy, developing shared responsibility.
Diversity is understood as a source of enrichment, and participation in the educational community strengthens democratic values such as solidarity, commitment and care for the environment. Basque language and culture are part of this shared life, alongside a strong commitment to multilingualism and openness to the world.
